We Need Your Help To Get a CT Machine Strathmore!
The Strathmore District Health Foundation invites municipalities, organizations, and members of the public to submit letters of support advocating for a diagnostic imaging (CT scanner) for Strathmore.
These letters will play a vital role in demonstrating the community’s need for improved diagnostic services and strengthening the case for investment with our MLA and Alberta Health Services.
Access to advanced imaging is essential for emergency physicians and frontline healthcare teams. A CT scanner in Strathmore would support timely diagnosis, enhance emergency care, improve chronic disease management, and reduce the burden on seniors and families who currently travel to Calgary for essential services.
The first step in this process is gathering public letters of support. These letters will help quantify demand, highlight lived experiences, and demonstrate unified regional advocacy. The Foundation will use this collective input to advance discussions with Alberta Health Services and provincial decisionmakers.
Your voice will directly strengthen the case for bringing essential diagnostic equipment closer to home and improving healthcare access for thousands of residents in Strathmore and surrounding communities.

Interview with Strathmore Now - March 2026

01
Why is the community advocating for a CT scanner in Strathmore?
Strathmore and the surrounding region have grown significantly, and Calgary is expanding at
one of the fastest rates in the country. As Calgary’s hospitals face increasing demand, securing
a CT scanner in Strathmore would not only meet local needs but also help relieve pressure on
Calgary’s already strained diagnostic facilities. We’re asking residents, businesses, and
partners to submit letters of support to demonstrate the clear need for local imaging capacity.
03
How would this benefit seniors and families?
Strathmore and the surrounding area have a significant senior population, many of whom no
longer drive in Calgary due to traffic and safety concerns. They often rely on costly
transportation for medical appointments.

Working parents, especially single parents, face even greater challenges. Balancing work,
childcare, transportation, and medical needs makes long trips into the city particularly difficult.
Local access to imaging services minimizes disruption and supports family stability.
05
What impact will community support have?
Your voice matters! Every letter helps bring essential diagnostic services closer to home,
reduces EMS strain, and eases pressure on Calgary’s overburdened hospitals. Strong
community advocacy increases the likelihood of securing this critical equipment.
02
How would a CT scanner improve emergency care?
Currently, patients who need a CT scan must be transported to Calgary, tying up our local EMS
units, leaving fewer available locally and increasing wait times at city hospitals. A CT scanner in
Strathmore would allow emergency teams to diagnose faster, treat sooner, and reduce the load
on Calgary’s emergency departments and imaging units.
04
Why are letters of support so important?
Letters show real-world impact and unified regional advocacy. They help quantify demand and demonstrate that investing in Strathmore will benefit both the local community and the broaderCalgary region.
